The Forest

Today we had a lovely time at the forest. We went on the train then had a picnic in the sun. We were really lucky to have such a nice day. After our picnic we went hunting bugs and also anything interesting to go in our miniature gardens next week.

After the bug hunt we collected wood and made a bonfire ( which we didn't light)then we had a pow wow around the bonfire.

We then went for an icecream and ate them waiting for the rather late train.

Measuring for Hamish

Last Thursday we decided to measure how big Hamish is and measure the basket he would fit in best. These two young ladies settled for the biggest basket which at least would give Hamish the opportunity to hide from the seagulls.

Today at preschool the children chose to continue the building bridges theme.
They used the big bricks today which proved to be difficult to support as a raised bridge.
They did however make a good flat bridge which gave them lots of practise in balancing techniques.

Snail Racing

At Rising Fives this afternoon we raced snails. Once they had got to the end of our builders tray we alowed them to crawl on to our leaves for a nibble and a rest. Some brave children even let them crawl onto them. Later we made our own clay snails which we will eventually put into a garden.

Solving Problems

Today at preschool the children were given some small world people and animals. They had reached a river and needed to get across it.The children were asked to find a way to get their animals and people across the river .

What a lovely day!

We had lovely weather today and the children were all really jolly.

We seem to have finished most things for the week so we largely had some fun!!!!----as if we ever have anything else.!

"We spent a long time outside but before we did we looked at the caterpillers we are growing under the computer microscope. How cute they are . Just about the sweetest little things any of us had ever seen, We also looked at just about anything the children could find under the microscope including Shylas Floppsy's fur, the hairs on our arms, the hair on our heads, any scabs and a bruise on Freyas leg----most interesting.

This afternoon we made ladybird Pizzas then we had a fast and furious team race.

The red team won but do you know as Rory, who did not win today , left the room he said to two team mates 'well we tried our best but we had lots of fun anyway didn't we?'

Hope you enjoy these pictures of children at play on Thursday and Friday. Angela

Well maybe a few more !

So ---firstly we have two children being driven around while they record ----something!. Next are some very busy children at play on the mat. A very inviting picnic comes next with dinosaurs in the sand in the next picture. The last picture for today is the sideways galloping dance that we played today. It was very wet this morning but I hope you can tell we still had a happy time.

Finally

Here are some lovely pictures of your children at play .Enjoy
Some lovely smiley faces, a stone creature, playing with tyres, a caged animal in the sand, and a crown for a teddy.

Also

While this has all been going on the children have also been weaving their own wave pictures ,polishing some rather dirty things as Mr Grinling polishes his light and working on a clock because Mr Grinling always has to watch the time.

A New Theme

Our Theme this half term is Mr Grinling the Lighthouse Keeper.

We began by making the sea by rolling bubble wrap and paint on paper. Once dry we all cut out our waves. Work then began on the lighthouse. The children crunched up newspaper then covered it in 'mod roc' to make the rocks. It was painted grey and then the sea was added. It looks fantastic so please take a look at it you Mums.

A New Half Term

Who would believe we have come to the last half term with this years children. The have all grown in so many ways and are such good company to be with.

Our half term started by changing our flower garden into a veg plot. The children dug raked and planted for two sunny days.
