Snowy World

Today was the first covering of snow this wintr. The children had a small world snow scene .
They sent the play mobile people shooting down the icy slope on ski's and on sledges, skating on the ice rink and throwing snow balls at each other. The children then decided to make a snow man for the people. Lets hope we get enough snow to make our own snow man in real size.

Strange photos

Small group work this week is all about deveoping ICT skills and one group was practising using their cameras. They took lots of photos and somehow they managed to get some shots of some strange looking monsters. !!

T

Christmas is coming

Friday saw the beginning of Christmas.
The afternoon group worked hard on their advent calendars and they look fabulous.

Spotty Day

Friday was Spotty Day in Preschool.
We all looked as if we had chicken pox including the dolls . We had a hunt the Pudsey bear game and we did a spotty activity .
We raised over £45 for Children in Need and had lots of fun. Tankyou Mums for your support and congratulations to Ryan who chose the winning string and won his Mum a bottle of wine and a book for himself.

Our Boxes Set of Around the World

Wendy came to collect our boxes on Friday. We loaded them into her car and she told us again how they would make someone smile who perhaps had never had a present before .

Our small group work this week was on shapes . This young lady took the idea a bit further and as you can see created a super picture made from shapes.
On Thursday we had the programmable Bee Bots out . The children really got the hang of telling these Bees what to do and they were good at estimating how many moves they needed to enter to get the Bees to travel around the maze they made.

The Messy Corridor

The Messy corridor was a busy place this week. You will see two pictures of rather grand junk models one at least is a princess castle.
Also the two following pictures are of the children 'mod rocing'. They are making the world ready for our children around the world at Christmas.
The final picture I really couldn't resist of two children encrossed in their books and sharing their stories. Lovely!

At Rising Fives Nov 5th

Friday the 5th November was both Bonfire night and Divali.
We compared them both as light is important in both celebrations.
We made some lovely miniture bonfires and talked about how to keep ourselves safe around fireworks.
We then made some little Divali lights and Carolyn told the children all about Divali. We did a Divali dance and parade for PE and then we finished by lighting our Divali lamps and singing 'Little Lamps are burning bright ' in the dark for all the Mums. It was magical!

Road works and a visitor

Today at preschool it was rather miserable outside so we used the hall for a road works activity .
The children drilled the 'road',laid water pipes and relaid the tarmac ---pressing it down till it was flat. The workers were contolling the bike traffic in the area as well. Later a certain young lady added this wonderful body onto the face that Lindsey had drawn on the floor. I reckon we may have a budding artist on our hands.
To complete the morning Mrs Sadler visited us to read our story. She read the Owl Babies and we really enjoyed it. Mrs Sadler sang some songs with us and we taught her an owl rhyme .

Nearly November the 5th

Bonfire night is nearly upon us and although we have only just returned to preschool we have been getting prepared for the big night.
The children have been rolling balls in paint then putting the balls on paper on a tray. They have then lifted the tray to send the balls rolling along making patterns like fireworks shooting through the sky. A little glitter completed the effect.
Bonfire night would not be complete without a yummy chocolate apple and just look at the fantastic bonfire the children have painted using great big decorating brushes.
Finally we are already making a start with our new theme by thinking about children around the world and planning on bringing a smile to the faces of children who are not as lucky as we are.
We are collecting shoeboxes full of goodies to send to them. This last picture is of the day Wendy and Chris came in to tell the children all about where the boxes go and what we can put in them.

Back from half term holiday!

What sort of gale was that over night that brought so many leaves down so suddenly?
The children certainly had fun clearing them up and even piled the tyres together to make an extra container for them.
Halloween was much on the childrens minds at news time and we also did a Pumpkin activity sheet to help us remember the names of our shapes.
