The Big Picture

Today at pre school we painted a great big picture. Nearly everyone painted something on this picture. It has penguins on the snow, a lovely sunset, polar bears, and some whales swimming in the sea. You will be able to see this masterpiece if you come to our Art Gallery next Thursday.

Small World Play

This week one of our pre schoolers has gone to Canada . We talked about how he would have travelled and how long it would have taken him to get there. Some of us then spent some time playing with the airport and the aeroplanes.
Our other picture today is of a new pre schooler called Jacob. Jacob comes to see us at preschool every now and again . He comes and tells us about things that make him sad or things that make him happy and sometimes we can help him to solve his problems or be happy for him.

Penguin Small visits a jungle island.

-Today in preschool we were very busy. In the little room Linda was on a jungle island . The preschoolers needed to make camp on the island and they first had to clear the camp site of frightening animals. They matched the animals with into pairs and found letters to go with them as well. They did lots different types of jumping to get across the river safely and then they carried water back to the camp balancing it on their heads. These two preschoolers are ordering supplies from the boat.
While all this is going on some preschoolers were painting each others feet in the main hall.
Later for our group activity we acted being on boats in a storm . The boats sank and we all swam to a jungle island. We collected coconuts and bananas to eat then we all wrote messages asking ffor help. We sent them across the sea in a bottle and a Navy man found them . We were all rescued in his helicopter just in time to be back before the Mums arrived.

Fairy, Fairy ---a good imagination.

Today this lovely preschooler spent much of the morning playing 'fairy, fairy. '
Apparently, these little beings all tucked up safely with a picnic plate beside each one in case they get hungry, are her fairies.
Whilst she was busy looking after her fairies some children were painting each others feet while some of the boys spent time racing their cars down the slide.

-The Rising Fives grouup at preschool has begun and we have met for two sessions now. We are doing road safety at the moment . The first week the lollipop lady visited us and this week a police lady visited us.She brought Constable Blinky with her and he kept us laughing by winking at us. We also saw her hand cuffs and she took our finger prints just like at the police station. The very important thing that she came to tell us was that the police are our friends and that they will always help us if we need them to.
The children have been brilliant, all eager and keen to participate.
I suspect they enjoy P.E. best out of our activities at least from the way they shouted for their teams on Friday I would be excused for thinking so. They are all excellent at getting changed and some can even pull their clothes the right way around after taking them off.
On Friday we had some good news about our zoo trip. We told the children what it was ---so ask them what we will be doing at the zoo to see if they took it on board.

Today at preschool we did lots of things related to ice. We had a role play of an eskimos camp at the North Pole . We fished for fish and counted the scales that each one had, We also searched for sticks to build a fire and found that each stick had a letter on so we had to think of something to do with the North Pole that began with that letter before we could build our fire..

In the main room we had some ice cubes and we tried to melt them . We used warm and cold water, sugar and salt. Some melted very fast but the cube covered with sugar took so long to melt that maybe if we covered the North Pole with sugar we could stop the Poles warming up and save the animals.
Some of us also worked hard mod-roc-ing our snowman but Jack thiks he needs some feet!
